The Xiaomi 12 series is scheduled to take place in Beijing, China today. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. local time, which corresponds to around 5:00 p.m. in India. The launch event will be going live via the company’s official website in China. In addition to the launch of Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro, the company might also unveil MIUI 13.

Just ahead of the launch Indian tipster Ishan Agarwal tipped the pricing of the upcoming smartphone series. According to him the Xiaomi 12 will be available in an 8GB with 128GB storage variant that will cost CNY 4,299 that translates to Rs 50,500. Whereas the 8GB with 256GB storage model is expected to cost CNY 4,599 that translates to Rs 54,000, while the 12GB with 256GB storage model will cost CNY 4,999 which is around Rs 58,800. On the other hand, the 8GB with 128GB storage variant of the Xiaomi 12X is expected to cost CNY 3,499 that is approximately around Rs 41,100. CNY 3,799 is expected to be the price of the 8GB with 256GB storage variant that translates to Rs 44,700 and the 12GB with 256GB storage model will cost CNY 3,999 which is roughly Rs 47,000. The 8GB with 128GB storage variant of the Xiaomi 12 Pro will cost CNY 4,999 which is approximately Rs 58,800. The 8GB + 256GB storage variant is likely to cost CNY 5,299 that converts Rs 62,300, while the 12GB with 256GB storage variant will cost CNY 5,699 translating to Rs 67,000. However, the leaked pricing is expected to differ when the devices get released. According to him, the pricing will be more aggressive, given that the upcoming Xiaomi flagship series is marginally more expensive than the standard Xiaomi 11.
Xiaomi 12 series specs (expected)
The vanilla Xiaomi 12 probably has a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 419ppi, 20:9 aspect ratio, HDR10+ support, and 1,500 nits of peak brightness. It could also be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. MIUI 13 based on Android 12 is expected to run on the phone. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC is expected to power the phone, which will be available in three configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. In terms of photography, Xiaomi 12 is expected to feature a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 123-degree field of view, and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. A 20-megapixel selfie camera may be included in the phone. In addition to this, the upcoming smartphone is said to come with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. It’s expected to have 30W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging capabilities. On the other hand, Xiaomi 12 Pro will undoubtedly feature a larger 6.73-inch Samsung E5 AMOLED LTPO display with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a touch sample rate of 480Hz. The software and processor will be the same and is likely to feature a triple rear camera system that will include three 50-megapixel sensors– a 50-megapixel Sony IMX707 primary camera, a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 ultrawide lens with a 115-degree field of view. It could also have a 4500mAh battery with 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging capabilities. It’s possible that the phone will have wired support for 120W fast charging.
