The Intel India Maker Lab has two goals. First, to accelerate hardware design innovation by increasing product revolution. Second, to improve maker capability for innovators and start-ups in India. Kumud Srinivasan, President, Intel India, said, “Intel India is committed to accelerating Digital India and Design in India by invigorating innovation across the ecosystem. Design capability is a critical aspect for the success of these initiatives, and the Intel India Maker Lab will provide a facility to offer that support. Intel India Maker Lab will zero in on hardware design by bolstering product innovation to increase the capability of start-ups in India while Intel India Maker Showcase will exhibit products and solutions from Intel India Maker Lab and Intel. Budding entrepreneurs will be helped with development kits, reference boards, hardware and software tools, mentorship and business support to develop products.” Initially, 10 start-ups will be supported with the selection process completing in October. The Maker Lab initiatives are aimed at helping the Indian government realise its vision of Digital India and Make in India.
