However, if there is one technology giant which hasn’t as yet made an official announcement about its foldable phone, its Apple. However, that doesn’t mean that reports or rumours have not circulated online about the upcoming foldable iPhone. And last week, a new patent from Apple was published in the USPTO which showed an iPhone with a flexible display. Unlike devices from Samsung and Huawei, the device in the patent wasn’t shown to be a tablet that can be folded into a smartphone.
Instead, the patent showed a clamshell smartphone design, like the 2019 Moto Razr. For those unaware, some renders of the upcoming Moto Razr’s design showed a normal sized smartphone that can be folded into a clamshell phone. Now, LetsGoDigital has published some renders of the upcoming foldable iPhone that are based on the patent filed by Apple. And just like the patent suggested, the foldable iPhone cannot be seen tablet sized-device that can be folded into a smartphone. Instead, in the renders, it can be seen that it is a normal sized smartphone can be folded in the middle. So, the foldable iPhone will become small enough to fit in the user’s palm once folded. An interesting aspect of the device that has been highlighted is that the foldable iPhone would we able to bend inwards as well as outwards. So, you can fold it inwards when you are not using it, and outwards in a tent mode when you want to show some content to a friend. This is actually what sets Apple’s foldable iPhone apart from other foldable devices that have got a glimpse of via photos or renders so far. We should mention, however, that Apple does not intend to launch its foldable iPhone this year. Previous reports have suggested that the foldable phone by Apple would only get unveiled in 2020.
