The issue with these apps was first reported by Trend Micro, where a researcher was quoted saying, “This adware is capable of displaying full-screen ads, hiding itself, monitoring a device’s screen unlocking functionality, and running in the mobile device’s background.” According to Trend Micro, all of these apps have been downloaded together over nine million times.
