Street View

In collaboration with Tech Mahindra, a top supplier of digital transformation, consultancy, and business re-engineering services and solutions, and Genesys International, a leading provider of sophisticated mapping solutions, Google announced the introduction of its Street View experience in India. Street View will be accessible on Google Maps as of right now with new imagery obtained from local partners that spans eleven Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Nashik, Vadodara, Ahmednagar, and Amritsar, and more than 150,000 km. By the end of 2022, Google, Genesys International, and Tech Mahindra hope to have this available in more than 50 cities. The Street View launch in India is the first time ever that all local partners have contributed to making Street View a reality. Simply open Google Maps, zoom into a road in any of these target cities, and press the area you choose to view to start Street View. Learn about the local coffee shops and cultural hubs, or explore the neighbourhood. People will be able to explore and traverse new areas of the country and the world with the aid of Street View in a more realistic and visual manner, giving them the opportunity to fully experience these locations from their phone or computer. Local developers will also have access to Street View APIs, allowing them to offer richer mapping experiences in their services.

Partnering with local traffic authorities

Google has vowed to work with regional authorities to democratise information in order to address issues like public cleanliness and Covid-19. For the purpose of enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion, it now disclosed its collaborations with regional traffic authorities. Google Maps will soon display speed restrictions information given by the traffic authorities, beginning with Bengaluru, to support local traffic authorities’ efforts to promote safe driving. As part of its attempts to create models that better manage traffic signal timings, Google recently announced its collaboration with Bengaluru traffic police. This will eventually spread throughout the city and aid the local traffic authority in controlling traffic at crucial crossroads. Along with the help of the regional traffic authorities, Google will further extend this to Kolkata and Hyderabad.
